Project Linus

Project Linus is a volunteer non-profit organization with a two-fold mission:  First, to provide a sense of security, warmth, and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gift of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers.”  Second, to provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities, for the benefit of children.

The Wilson Mission began in 1998 with the donation of 18 quilts; now the quilters complete over 100 quilts each year.  All material used in making the quilts is new; financial support is provided by three area churches and the Lions Club.  All donations stay local.  The finished quilts are taken to a local quilt shop where they are picked up by the Erie-Niagara Linus organization coordinators who distribute them wherever they are needed.

On Sunday, October 26, 2014 Pastor Judith Lee blessed this years quilts before they were distributed.  Shown in the pictures below are the quilts which cover the pews in the sanctuary at St. John’s.
